An eight-month-old baby died after being left in a hot car for nearly seven hours. In May 2022, in Georgia, where temperatures can soar in the month of May, the young baby perished. The family of the deceased infant is blaming the little girl’s father because he failed to notify anyone that his child was alone in the car.

While waiting inside the city hall parking garage, David Japez McCorry Whatley, the twenty-year-old father of the dead child, placed his automobile in a space reserved for police vehicles. He went to get weapons that had been seized in an unrelated occurrence. Police put him in handcuffs and threw him away in a jail cell when they discovered he had a warrant out for his arrest. Meanwhile, Whatley’s eight-month-old daughter was left alone in her hot car with no one aware of her presence as she waited outside City Hall with the Georgia sun beating down on her.

However, some people are claiming that the Snellville Police Department dropped the ball on this one because they didn’t impound the man’s automobile after his arrest. Instead of confiscating the car from the parking lot and discovering the baby locked up inside, they simply threw Whatley in a cell and let him sit for seven hours.

It was all over when the grandmother of the infant discovered her in a scorching automobile parked at City Hall. She rushed the kid to a hospital, where she was pronounced dead after temperatures in the region hit more than 80 degrees on May 5, 2022.

Selena, the mother of the deceased infant, spoke to a local news station about her little girl, who she said was the center of her universe.

Selena said, “She laughed and smiled since she was a month old. She talked to you in her baby language and answered you with noises when you said her name. I loved her more than I could ever imagine, and my heart is breaking that she is gone so soon.”

The father of the newborn, who is still being detained without bond on charges of child abuse and wanton behavior, may face additional accusations in light of his daughter’s death. An autopsy will be performed to determine the cause of her death; however, an investigation into her death is currently underway.

The Snellville Police Department released a statement saying they are “heartbroken” by the baby’s death and that they are “committed to conducting a thorough investigation.”

This is a devastating tale, and our condolences go out to the deceased baby’s family. There should not be any child who dies in this manner. We just want justice to be done in this case, but we have no control over that. RIP, my little one. You were taken from us much too soon.

Always double-check to see if anyone has been left behind if you drive with children.
