The Democratic Party is once again drowning in its own hypocrisy — and this time it’s one of their loudest “ethics crusaders” caught with both hands in the taxpayer cookie jar.

Sen. Sheldon Whitehouse (D-RI), the self-styled corruption fighter who spends his days attacking President Trump and ranting about “dark money,” has been accused of doing exactly what he claims to oppose: steering millions in taxpayer dollars to an eco-activist nonprofit that conveniently happens to employ his wife.

The conservative watchdog group FACT (Foundation for Accountability and Civic Trust) uncovered the bombshell: Whitehouse helped push legislation that funneled a staggering $6.9 million in federal grants to Ocean Conservancy — where his wife serves as a paid consultant. In other words: taxpayer money goes to the nonprofit, the nonprofit pays his wife, and Whitehouse keeps pretending he’s the ethical one.

FACT’s executive director, Kendra Arnold, didn’t hold back.
“Senator Whitehouse advocated and voted for legislation that led to $6.9 million of taxpayer funds being paid to an organization that his wife works for and receives an income from.”

Arnold also emphasized the obviously shady setup:
“This type of circular relationship between a senator and an organization that lobbies and pays his wife is exactly what the public is fed up with.”

Yet Whitehouse — rather than addressing the ethics issue — tried to dismiss the scandal with the standard Democrat playbook: scream “dark money,” pretend to be the victim, and hope the media runs interference.

His office whined that this was simply a “repeat dark money performance,” claiming the accusations were part of an effort to derail his crusade against “billionaires” and “Court capture operatives.”

Translation: *How dare anyone question me while I’m busy attacking conservatives?*

Meanwhile, Whitehouse continues to lash out at President Trump with recycled talking points and wild climate hysteria. In just the last few days, he has accused Trump of:

* “Driving up electricity prices”
* “Pardoning insurrectionists”
* “Dangerously spiraling”
* And, bizarrely, mocked Trump’s accurate concerns over whale-killing offshore wind turbines

All this from a man who just got caught steering millions toward his spouse’s bank account.

Whitehouse has also targeted former Trump diplomat and current Kennedy Center head Ric Grenell — even though Grenell delivered the institution’s first balanced budget in decades and raised a record-shattering $117 million. The senator accused Grenell of impropriety, only for Grenell to flatten him with facts.

Grenell fired back:
“The NYT and the Senator’s letter writer are going to be embarrassed. We have a balanced budget, we’ve raised a whopping $117 MILLION — and FIFA paid millions plus covered all expenses.”

While Whitehouse smears others, it’s becoming increasingly clear who the real ethics problem is.

The Rhode Island senator — who has already been criticized for decades of membership in an all-white exclusive beach club — now faces the most serious allegations of his career. And instead of addressing them, he’s melting down, attacking conservatives, and playing the victim.

This is the Democratic Party in 2025: corruption for me, lectures for thee.

And thanks to watchdogs brave enough to shine a light on the Left’s dirty dealings, voters are starting to see exactly who the real grifters in Washington are.
