Florida Governor Ron DeSantis is once again proving why he remains one of the most popular Republican leaders in the nation, standing firm against federal overreach and activist judges who would undermine law and order. On August 21, 2025, U.S. District Judge Kathleen Williams issued a ruling attempting to dismantle the “Alligator Alcatraz” detention center—a key facility in Florida’s aggressive immigration enforcement strategy. DeSantis responded swiftly, calling out Williams as an “activist judge” and vowing that her ruling would not deter Florida’s efforts to remove illegal aliens.
Speaking in Sanderson, DeSantis made clear that his administration will not bow to judicial activism. “This is a judge that was not going to give us a fair shake. This was preordained, very much an activist judge trying to do policy from the bench,” he declared, drawing enthusiastic applause from his supporters. The governor criticized the Biden administration’s longstanding inaction on illegal immigration, noting that many individuals already ordered removed remain free in the country due to federal inaction.
Florida, DeSantis stressed, is stepping in to enforce the law where Washington has failed. “We’re now in this position where we’re leading the state efforts to help the Trump administration actually enforce the law and remove these illegal aliens—not just from Florida, but from our country,” he said. His comments underline the governor’s commitment to securing Florida’s borders and supporting nationwide deportation policies.
Doubling down on his crackdown, DeSantis announced a new immigration facility, the “Deportation Depot,” which will detain, process, and house illegal aliens in coordination with federal authorities. “Great to be in Sanderson today to announce that Florida’s new Deportation Depot will begin housing, detaining, and processing illegal aliens for deportation,” DeSantis said. He emphasized that with both Alligator Alcatraz in South Florida and Deportation Depot in North Florida, the state is ramping up its capacity to remove foreign criminals efficiently.
“Florida will always stand for the rule of law and put the safety of our citizens first,” the governor added, leaving no doubt that public safety is his top priority.
The speech and video quickly went viral, with conservatives flooding social media in support. One comment noted, “A federal judge has no jurisdiction in this matter unless it involves a U.S. citizen or documented visitor. The Constitution does not pertain to citizens of other countries without documentation unless they are visiting dignitaries.”
Another voter praised DeSantis’ tenacity, writing, “Standing his ground with gator-sized determination! Ron’s Florida Express is boarding—no missing this train! 🐊🚂” A third added, “Ron, you are the man! I am so happy you’re my governor and that you don’t let rogue judges affect your decision to deport illegal criminals. You are the best thing in Florida for a decade. Keep up the great work.”
DeSantis’ steadfast leadership and refusal to allow activist judges to undermine his law-and-order agenda has cemented his status as a conservative hero in Florida—and a national figure for those who prioritize border security, public safety, and the enforcement of U.S. immigration law.
