America’s law enforcement officials have been under a national microscope due to continued allegations of racism and police brutality. However, more recent recordings have shown that not every police officer is the same; in fact, at least one of them has a hilarious sense of humor. Media outlets across the country are reporting this lighthearted story.
A police officer was parked on the side of the highway as a routine lookout for speeding drivers. He soon spotted a vehicle that wasn’t following the rules of the road, but the driver wasn’t speeding; this car was only going 22 mph. The cop immediately pulled the vehicle over. He peered inside and counted five trembling old women.
The elderly driver told the officer that she didn’t understand why she was getting pulled over because she believed she was going “exactly” the speed limit. She also made sure to point out that she wasn’t causing any other problems.
The police officer replied that she may not have been speeding, but she was certainly driving much slower than the speed limit. He told her that this was still dangerous for other vehicles on the road.
After this, the old woman became even more confused and said her next few words with pride. “No… I was doing the speed limit exactly. It was 22 miles an hour!”
By that time, the law enforcement official was trying to hold back his laughter. “22 is the route number. It’s not the speed limit.”
The woman seemed very flustered, but she thanked the officer anyway.
There was a little confusion on the police officer’s part as he still wasn’t sure why the woman’s elderly passengers seemed so unsettled. He asked the driver, and she calmly replied with the following:
“Oh, they’ll be okay in a few minutes. We just left Route 119.”
