Nancy Pelosi’s husband, Paul Pelosi, was arrested in California over the weekend and charged with driving under the influence.

According to a Napa County, California, sheriff’s office online booking report, 82-year-old Nancy Pelosi was arrested just before midnight on April 12 and charged with one count of driving under the influence and another for driving with a blood alcohol content level of 0.08 or higher.

The California Democrat’s spouse was arrested at around 4:13 a.m. on Sunday and released several hours later at 7:26 a.m., according to the records. The bail for the two misdemeanors had been set at $5,000.

TMZ reported his arrest on Sunday.

It’s unclear at this time if Pelosi was driving alone when he was detained, and additional information about the incident is unavailable.

The Napa, California, Police Department claims it was not involved in the arrest. The Napa County Sheriff’s Office did not reply to a request for comment.

“The Speaker will not be commenting on this private matter which occurred while she was on the East Coast,” Drew Hammill, a Pelosi spokesperson, said.

She arrived in Providence, Rhode Island on Sunday to deliver the commencement address at Brown University just hours after her husband’s arrest.

“Graduates, you are our hope,” she told students. “We know this: Hope is the most powerful weapon against threats against democracy. We should have hope, because we believe in America.”

The congresswoman was giving a speech about immigration in Boston on Thursday when one person yelled “we need gun control,” while another called her a “criminal.”

Since the year 1963, Nancy Pelosi and Paul Pelosi have been married.

According to Open Secrets, a non-profit that tracks money in politics, he started and ran Financial Leasing Services, a successful venture capital firm, and the two amassed an estimated personal fortune of more than $110 million by 2018.

The Pelosi family includes five children, two of whom were born in the United States. The couple divides their time between San Francisco, where Nancy Pelosi serves in Congress, and Washington, DC.

Although he is relatively quiet, Paul Pelosi has been in the news recently due to his stock investments.

He invested $2.2 million in Tesla stock in March, after some members of Congress called for banning lawmakers and their spouses from stock trading.

Given that Pelosi and other lawmakers have access to sensitive data and are in charge of creating legislation regulating businesses, some on both sides of the aisle argue that transactions like hers pose a conflict of interest.
