Another out-of-touch celebrity is bashing the country that made her rich. This time, it’s Heart guitarist Nancy Wilson, who claimed in a recent interview that it’s “more embarrassing than ever” to be an American.
The 71-year-old rocker, who built her fortune and fame in the U.S., made the remark while speaking to the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel about her band’s 1975 hit *Crazy on You.* Wilson, reminiscing about the Vietnam era, said she and her sister Ann were “kind of embarrassed” to be American back then. But she then doubled down with an even worse take:
“To be as subtle as possible, it’s more embarrassing now.”
Well, Americans didn’t take that lightly. Furious fans and critics immediately slammed Wilson’s ungrateful attitude, with many pointing out the hypocrisy of someone who made millions off American fans while trashing the country that gave her those opportunities.
“Says the millionaire who made TONS of dough playing music,” one X user scoffed. “I just can’t with these people right now.”
Another furious commenter didn’t hold back: “The bitch is welcome to find a more suitable country for her needs.”
Others made it clear that they’re done with Wilson and her music.
“Stop playing 80’s Heart music and it’s not as embarrassing,” one person joked. Another bluntly stated, “It’s embarrassing to be a Heart fan now.”
Plenty of Americans had a simple message for Wilson: if you hate it here so much, leave.
“Then leave, you won’t be missed,” one person remarked. Another added, “Move, I guess.”
As if bashing her own country wasn’t enough, Wilson went on to take a swing at wealthy men—a classic talking point for Hollywood elites who, of course, have no problem cashing their own massive checks.
Discussing *Barracuda*, one of Heart’s most famous songs, Wilson claimed it was inspired by a “real sleazeball with a satin jacket” who tried to profit off her band’s “sexy chicks” image. But she then dragged the song into today’s political arena, saying:
“It is even more relevant in the salacious billionaire culture with the grab-them-by-the-p—y mentality.”
She didn’t stop there. Wilson then turned her focus to “cranky old rich white guys,” saying she hopes to see a new revolution against them.
“I think for women in the culture the pendulum will come back again, and there’ll be another renaissance in the arts to push back against the oppression of the cranky old rich white guys.”
Apparently, Wilson has no problem with wealthy, old, white women like herself dictating how America should think and feel.
While Nancy Wilson was busy embarrassing herself, her sister and bandmate Ann Wilson, 74, was focusing on something far more important—beating cancer.
Ann recently announced that she completed chemotherapy and is ready to return to touring, saying:
“I’m doing absolutely fine now but it’s been, to put it mildly, a lot. Chemo is no joke.”
Unlike her sister, Ann chose grace and gratitude, showing appreciation for life rather than spewing leftist talking points.
Heart is now back on the road, with their next concert scheduled for Monday night in Manitoba, Canada. But for many former fans, Nancy Wilson’s anti-American rant might make it difficult to enjoy their music the same way ever again.
