Waitresses often rely on the tips that they make to survive during the week since they don’t make a lot of money with hourly wages.

Many people aren’t comfortable with the recommended 10 percent that is suggested as a tip, especially if the service is bad. A group enjoyed a meal at Busboys & Poets in Washington, D.C. one evening.

They decided to look past the typical tip amounts and leave their own. Rosalynd Harris is a black waitress at the restaurant. She was working as usual when she saw that she had a table of white men from Texas.

The men were wearing cowboy hats and looked like the men who Harris had marched against a few days earlier. The men were in town for the inauguration of Donald Trump.

There was a potential for the communication to be awkward. It was the opposite experience as the men were pleasant during their time at the restaurant. When Harris picked up the check and the tip, she saw that there was a $450 tip and a note.

The note stated that the men enjoyed her smile and that if everyone would exhibit her kindness, then the world would be a better place.
