A Georgia man named Eric Comfort visited his local Chick-Fil-A this week and found a Veterans Day tribute that he thought was pretty amazing. According to a Facebook post Comfort wrote, he went into the fast food restaurant on Monday and found a “Missing Man Table.” He said that the table had a rose, a bible, and an American flag on top of it. It also included a plaque that described the purpose of the table.

The plaque said that the table was reserved in order to honor comrades who have gone missing in battle. It also explained the significance of each of the artifacts laid out on the table. It said the tablecloth was white to represent the purity of the heroes’ motives when entering battle. A rose, which was placed in a vase, symbolized the life of each of the missing heroes and their loved ones. A red ribbon, which was tied around the vase, symbolized the country’s determination to account for those who are still missing. A pinch of salt symbolized the tears shed by the missing soldiers and their family members. A Bible symbolized the strength obtained through faith. An inverted glass symbolized the missing soldier’s inability to share a toast with their families, and finally, an empty chair signified that these soldiers are still missing.

The restaurant manager, Alex Korchan, said that he and the staff members wanted to set something up to honor veterans. He said that the restaurant plans to offer free meals to veterans and their families on Veterans Day from 5 p.m. and 8 p.m. He also put up a poster so customers could sign it and remember the loved ones they have lost in battle.
