In a powerful post-election statement, President-elect Donald Trump laid out his bold plan to end veteran homelessness across America—a mission he promises to undertake with urgency as he prepares to return to the White House with Vice President-elect J.D. Vance. With his decisive victory over Vice President Kamala Harris, Trump is doubling down on a critical issue: honoring our nation’s veterans who have been overlooked while illegal immigrants enjoy taxpayer-funded accommodations.
Speaking directly to the American people, Trump didn’t mince words. He pointed out the nearly $1 billion taxpayer dollars currently going to house illegal migrants in luxury hotels across the nation. “The government has spent nearly $1 billion to house illegal aliens and foreign migrants in expensive luxury hotels, courtesy of you, the American taxpayer,” Trump emphasized. “And they want to spend billions and billions more. In many states, we’re running out of hotel space because the rooms are all booked up with illegal aliens living in a very large way on the American taxpayer’s dime.”
Meanwhile, Trump noted, approximately 33,000 American veterans remain homeless, struggling to survive on the streets. He didn’t hold back in criticizing the Biden administration’s neglect of these American heroes. “Meanwhile, we have 33,000 veterans in this country who are homeless and living very poorly, I might add, and it’s a shame,” Trump stated. “They’re living in filth and squalor on our streets. Nobody is doing a thing for them. Everything we did for our veterans has been dropped. It’s a disgrace.”
Taking aim at Biden’s leadership, Trump charged that the current administration places illegal immigrants above the needs of homeless veterans. “Joe Biden puts illegal aliens before homeless veterans, and we cannot let this happen any longer,” he asserted. “The American veteran is one of our greats. These are great, great people we have to take care of.” Trump outlined his upcoming actions, which he promises to take on Day One in the Oval Office.
“I will sign an executive order to cut off Joe Biden’s massive spigot of funding for shelter and transport of illegal aliens,” Trump vowed. Instead, he plans to redirect a substantial portion of those funds to provide shelter and treatment for America’s homeless veterans. “I will make it a personal mission to totally eradicate veterans’ homelessness in America,” he declared, promising substantial progress by the end of his term.
Trump then recalled the successes of his first presidency, contrasting them with the challenges and economic strain faced under the Biden-Harris administration. “The border was the best border we’ve ever had. We were energy independent. We were soon going to be energy dominant. Our country was doing great. We had no inflation. We had the best economy in history,” Trump said, underscoring that his administration will never turn its back on veterans as he claims Biden and the Democrats have done.
In a stark closing, Trump made his views crystal clear. “Anybody voting for a Democrat is very foolish, very, very foolish,” he stated. “We certainly will not be putting illegal alien lawbreakers up in ultimate luxury while American veterans lay shivering on the sidewalks below. Unlike Biden, our loyalty will not be to illegal aliens who have violated our borders and come into our country illegally. They’ve trampled our sovereignty. It will be to the brave men and women who enlisted their lives to defend our borders and to protect our sovereignty.”
Ending on a note of assurance to veterans, Trump concluded, “Thank you very much. We’re going to take care of our veterans.” This bold statement lays the groundwork for what may be a transformative era for veterans’ care in America, signaling a renewed commitment to those who served, rather than to those who cross the border illegally.
