Ashley Hardacre, a 19-year-old woman from Flint, Michigan, had been hearing stories about women being lured out of their vehicles by weird objects that were left on their cars, but she never expected it to happen to her.
She recently posted a photo and a message on Facebook that has been shared over 90,000 times, and many people have been praising her for her quick thinking.
She said that, as she was leaving work on a Thursday night, she saw a flannel shirt wrapped around one of her windshield wipers. It appeared to have been placed there intentionally, and Hardacre remembered the stories she had been hearing, so she left the shirt on the car and drove away as quickly as possible.
She eventually found a safe place to pull over and take the shirt off her windshield wiper. She said that she’s unsure of why someone would have placed it on her car, but she plans to inform the security officers in the mall she works at and have them escort her to her car each night after work.
In an interview with CBS News, Hardacre said that she posted her story to let others know that things like this can happen to anyone. Although it may have been nothing, police in the area are investigating the incident and reviewing the security camera footage to see if they can find the culprit.
Sergeant Brad Wangler, who is a police detective in Flint Township, advised people to be cautious, remain calm, and advise police of things like this when they happen.
