Tensions are boiling over in Broadview, Michigan, where woke city leaders are once again choosing virtue signaling over law and order. In a stunning display of anti-police hypocrisy, Mayor Katrina Thompson and Police Chief Thomas Mills are attacking Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) — the very agency working to restore order as violent protests and illegal activity spike across the liberal enclave.

What sparked the outrage? ICE agents reportedly used tear gas, pepper spray, and rubber bullets to subdue violent rioters — tools that law enforcement has long relied on to prevent chaos and protect officers. But instead of thanking them, Broadview’s leadership accused the federal agents of running a “disinformation campaign.”

Chief Mills, echoing the city’s progressive politics, complained that ICE agents were “rude” to him after he refused to cooperate with their enforcement efforts. “I was shocked,” Mills told local media, claiming that ICE officers cursed at him and called him a coward. His remarks quickly went viral — and not in a good way. Social media users mocked the chief for acting like a victim instead of a cop. One viral post put it bluntly: “BREAKING – Broadview Police Chief Thomas Mills is crying that ICE agents called him a traitor and told him to get out of the way if he wouldn’t enforce the law.”

Rather than stand with federal officers, Mills doubled down. He accused ICE of “endangering” his officers after they were allegedly hit by pepper spray during the clash — conveniently ignoring that ICE agents were dealing with rioters and needed to protect themselves. Mills told reporters, “They were coughing, and I was on the phone with them, and they had to leave the area to decontaminate themselves.” His comments drew sharp criticism from conservatives who noted that officers across the country face far worse every day without whining to the press.

Mayor Katrina Thompson took the hysteria even further, accusing ICE of “making war” on her community. “It all has to stop,” she declared. “ICE has to stop putting our residents, our police officers, and our first responders in harm’s way.” Thompson went on to claim, without evidence, that the Department of Homeland Security was running a “disinformation campaign that would even make Russia blush.”

Not to be outdone, acting Fire Chief Matt Martin chimed in with his own melodrama, claiming, “Each day this fence remains, the risk of tragedy increases. That is the law of probability and it applies to everyone, including the federal government.”

The irony is hard to miss. These same officials who turn a blind eye to rioters destroying property and threatening public safety are now condemning federal law enforcement for doing their jobs. Instead of confronting crime and illegal immigration, Broadview’s leaders are attacking those who stand up for America’s laws.

As one conservative commentator summed it up: “If these woke cities keep siding with lawbreakers, maybe they should be used as training grounds for our military. We’re under invasion from within — and the enemy isn’t wearing a uniform.”

Once again, the left’s war on law enforcement isn’t about justice. It’s about control — and it’s tearing America’s cities apart from the inside.
