In Layton, Utah, an officer was recently accused of both groping and wrongfully arresting a woman while conducting a traffic stop.

After the allegations become public, the city of Layton provided the dashcam video so that people could make a decision for themselves regarding the incident. Amanda Houghton has told KTSU-TV that she was picking up prescriptions for her child when she was rear-ended at a light.

She dialed 911, where she claims the encounter immediately went south. The officer who responded has concerns that Houghton was under the influence of either drugs or alcohol and put her through a sobriety test.

At the end, he felt as though there was cause for her arrest. The officer patted Houghton down, something she loudly objected to. She screamed at the officer dont touch me but the officer replied that he could search her and that was what he was doing.

The Layton Police Department later released information stating they only had three female officers, which is why a male officer was searching Houghton.

Houghton stated that she felt violated by the pat-down by a male officer. Additionally, there were no traces of alcohol or drug in her system when tested later.

She is now considering suing the city of Layton and also wants charges brought against the officer in question. Lt. Travis Lyman, the spokesperson for the Layton police, has said that it doesnt seem as though the officer was violating any laws during the stop and pat-down in the dashcam video.
