In our modern tech-savvy society, it can be quite shocking just how much we can lack in human tenderness at times.

It is sad fact that many innocent babies continue to be abandoned and left to die in our own nation. Most of these helpless babies, all of whom have no one in the world willing to calm their terrified tears, end up buried in unmarked graves.

It takes a very strong and compassionate person to try and change this sickening status quo. Thankfully for the world, that’s exactly what one Californian woman is doing with her life.

Elissa Davey’s involvement in this cause began in 1998 when she saw a news program on a baby left die at a local college. Davey went out of her way to claim the child as her own and to provide the deceased baby with a proper funeral service.

Since then, Davey has officially named and organized funeral services for six other deceased babies. All of these children were given dignified ceremonies in Davey’s Garden of Innocence, which is located in Carlsbad, California.

Many strangers come together out of compassion to celebrate these precious children at the Garden of Innocence. Locals admire Davey’s determination to give these children something their parents apparently neglected to give them.

As Davey writes on the Garden of Innocence’s official website, “If no one grieves, no one will remember.” The mission of all those involved in the Garden of Innocence project is to remember these precious lives that could have been.

They hope their services will send these young spirits into the great beyond with dignity.
