Everybody hates mosquitos, but they are very difficult to avoid during those warm summer months when everyone wants to be outside.

They are everywhere all the time, and they always seem to crop up at the worst possible moment. They’ll happily ruin a beautiful outdoor wedding ceremony, violate a picnic, or send sports fans running for their cars.

If you want to be able to enjoy nature without the hassle of mosquitos, there are only a few traditional options, but one new idea has proven to be exceedingly efficient without the need for chemicals or heavy candles.

To create the mosquito trap, you’ll need a high-velocity fan or air circulator like you might find at Home Depot or Lowe’s. You’ll also need several powerful magnets, some fine mesh mosquito netting, and 70% isopropyl alcohol.

Cut a piece of the mosquito netting such that it covers one side of your fan. Use the magnets to hold the netting in place against one side of the fan.

Dilute the rubbing alcohol by half with fresh water, and use a spray bottle to coat the netting on the fan. Be careful not to spray the fan itself. Once the fan is turned on, it will suck up mosquitos and kill them instantly with the alcohol.

You can use a piece of white cardboard to help visualize when the netting is full, and you can then remove the netting and let the mosquitos fall onto the cardboard for easy disposal.

This trick works well and requires little effort or cleanup.
