A third-grade girl in West Virginia found something astounding while she was searching outside. When she found the item, she knew that she couldn’t keep it as much as she wanted to have a souvenir from 1965.

She found the object with a metal detector that she got for Christmas. Caroline Woodward found a class ring that someone had lost about 50 years ago. There were initials on the ring, and Caroline knew that she had to find the owner so that the ring and the owner could be reunited.

The ring could have been worth money, but she knew that the man who lost it would probably like to have it back. Walter Shields was a senior in 1965 when he lost his ring. He thought that he lost the ring at the beach.

Walter didn’t know that he lost the ring on a field while he was playing football. That’s where Caroline enters the picture as she found the ring on the field while using her metal detector.

Caroline showed the ring to a teacher, and the teacher sent pictures to a few people in the hopes of finding the owner. One of the people was Walter’s wife.

Walter drove about 200 miles to Caroline’s school to get the ring during a presentation at the front of Caroline’s class.
