Students who attend Whitney M. Young High School in Chicago, Illinois, wanted to do something fun and special on the last day of school.

They also wanted to celebrate a teacher, John Fanning, who has a unique way of educating his classes. The students surrounded Fanning in a hallway and challenged him to a dance battle.

Fanning was awed and amazed by the moves being performed in front of him and was unsure of how to react. To the delight of the students, he suddenly decided to join in. He chose a river dance routine, holding a notebook behind his back while his feet sped through the moves.

Fanning’s dancing was not as impressive as that of the students, but it was still amazing to watch for the sheer effort and enthusiasm. His routine was recorded and uploaded to the internet, where it quickly went viral.

After the video had been viewed nearly four million times, Fanning was invited to appear on the Good Morning America show. During the program, Fanning explained that as a child, he often took dance classes after attending church services.

He also talked about his love of teaching, how much he appreciates his students and how having fun is just as important as learning.
