Erick Scott is a man who many see as an ideal father and husband.

He’s a veteran who struggles almost every day with PTSD. Fortunately, he has his service dog to keep him calm. Gumbo has been Scott’s best friend, keeping him calm in many situations where he would normally feel like his world is crashing down.

Scott has several tattoos on his arms that tell the story of being in the military. He has one tattoo of combat boots and one of a skull that serves as a memory of the time he spent overseas.

Scott was in the army for about 16 years before he ended his tour. Scott’s father told him that he had 11 men with him before he left and to bring all of those men back.

That didn’t happen.Scott has been feeling guilty about the loss of some of the men in his group. He has nightmares about the war and his friends being killed. Doctors gave him the diagnosis of PTSD and put him on medication. They also assigned him with a service dog to help keep him calm.

Gumbo is a black lab that can sense when Scott is stressed. When Scott was talking in an interview on a news show recently, he became anxious, and the dog came to his rescue. Scott quickly calmed down during the interview when he started petting the dog.
