When you think about a history lesson, you might not think about a teacher stepping on an American flag.

Lee Francis is a history teacher in Fayetteville, NC, who wanted to teach his students something that they wouldn’t forget.

He teaches at Massey Hill Classical High School, and some of his teaching methods have been unexpected. His recent endeavor involves discussing the First Amendment.

The first thing that he did was to try to burn the American flag. He then tried to cut the flag before finally stepping on it after he put it on the ground. When Francis put the flag on the ground, he told his students that his actions were an extreme case of free speech.

There were two students who left the classroom as soon as Francis started to disrespect the flag. Another student took the flag away from the teacher. The teacher told the class that he wasn’t trying to disrespect anyone.

He simply wanted the class to know the the Supreme Court has given everyone in the country this kind of free speech. Parents are outraged after seeing a picture of Francis standing on the flag, especially since the school is located near Fort Bragg.

The teacher has been suspended, and there is an investigation underway.
