In the past, a show similar to this was American Bandstand. American Bandstand took acts that were smaller that mainstream artists and gave them the chance to reach the masses through the newly developed medium of television.
Many acts performed on this well-remembered TV program. A Louisiana band came onto the show and had an incredible performance that is remembered by many to be the best in the history of the program.
The Newbeats was the name of the musical act that made history on this television show. However, this band is not very well known in mainstream music.
Bread and Butter was the name of their first hit song that started to gain them a great deal of success. Their new hit song hit number 2 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart.
Over 1,000,000 copies of this song were sold worldwide. Their performance on American Bandstand was quite amazing. The lead singer had a face that you would never suspect that voice to come out of.
You would most likely think that this song was sung by a woman with great pipes. However it was amazing to see this voice coming from a mild mannered young man in his 20s.
