Outback Steakhouse is known for their delicious steaks, but their signature baked potatoes are one of the most popular items served.

However, thanks to 12 Tomatoes, you don’t even have to leave your house to enjoy the unique flavor of this spud dish. All you will need is 6 russet potatoes, 1/2 cup of extra-virgin olive oil and two tablespoons of kosher salt.

You can reduce the amount of salt used if you would like, but this amount is what Outback uses. You can also experiment with using different types of potatoes, like red potatoes. However ,the taste will be different if you alter these ingredients. You probably already have these simple ingredients in your pantry.

While your oven is preheating to 350 degrees, rinse each potato with cool water and pat dry with a paper towel. Take another paper towel and saturate it with the olive oil. Rub each one of the potatoes until they are covered, but not dripping.

Arrange the six potatoes neatly on a baking sheet and evenly sprinkle with the two tablespoons of kosher salt. Bake the potatoes for 50 to 55 minutes or until they are fork tender.

Once the potatoes are fully cooked, remove them from the oven and serve immediately, as they are best hot and fresh from the oven.

“I use to work for Outback. I remember prepping the potatoes. Hands covered in oil, massaging it into the skin (great way to soften your hands). Potatoes rolled and covered in kosher salt. Trays of these potatoes on a rack waiting to go into the ovens. Yum, they made great meals on their own. What potatoes didn’t sell that day were turned into the potato soup of tomorrow.?”
