YouTube vlogger Hank Green recently became a father for the first time and decided to celebrate the event with a new video where he tells 41 “dad jokes” in four minutes. The dad-joke genre has become popular in recent years, spawning several dedicated social media channels. A dad joke is a particular form of humor where a bit of advice or absurd observation is offered in regard to raising children and life experience. Typically told in the form of a pun or embarrassing anecdote, the joke is often met with awkward silence or groaning afterward. In Green’s case, he rattled off 41 jokes about excrement, cheese, flatulence and diapers. He also did an excellent impression of President Obama and ended the video with a punchline from a Will Smith movie. Green’s infant son, Orin, made an appearance at the halfway point, which delighted Green’s fans.

Green started the YouTube channel with his brother 10 years ago as a “nerdy” hobby. Currently, there are over three million subscribers and hundreds of millions of views. While it is not clear in what direction the channel will go in the coming years, visitors seem to be thrilled with the addition of dad jokes.
