Sometimes Netflix gets a little creative and the result is breathtaking. It’s no secret anthology shows like the popular, Black Mirror draw in the crowds. This is the case with the new anthology series Netflix will be releasing and it stars a country music legend. The new anthology series will be based on Dolly Parton’s songs. The episodes will be crafted by taking inspiration from the greatest songs Dolly has performed during her amazing career. The streaming powerhouse along with Warner Bros, and Dolly herself will bring the music to life on the screen. Some of the most recognizable songs in the world will be transformed into something fans can see.

Dolly Parton said in a statement she’s, “thrilled to bring some of her favorite songs to life with Netflix.” She also expresses her gratitude to the streaming service and Warner Bros. TV for helping to bring this project to life. Parton has always been very appreciative of her fans creating Dolly Wood, a theme park, for them to enjoy all things, Dolly. She is thrilled to find another outlet to express her creativity and bring her fans more from her impressive list of songs. She also has always been honest with her fans including the caption on an Instagram picture, “if you aren’t naturally blond, store bought is fine.” In the past, Dolly has had great success working with Warner Brothers as millions tuned in to watch Dolly Parton’s Coat of Many Colors and Dolly Parton’s Christmas of Many Colors the following year. The studio also brought her life story to the screen, so fans could see what goes on behind the scenes of her fabulous career.

The news of this amazing anthology was happening leaked from one of Dolly Parton’s former co-stars, Lily Tomlin. When asked if Dolly would star on the hit show Tomlin is in with Jane Fonda on Netflix, Grace & Frankie, she said Dolly would be too busy with her own deal with Netflix. She told the exclusive news to Pete Hammond from Deadline after the Netflix FYC panel in June. Both Jane and Lily said they would be thrilled to have Dolly guest star on the show. While there isn’t a set date for the release of the anthology it is known that Dolly will not only produce but star in some of the episodes. Parton is no stranger to the big screen having acted in movies like The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas among others. There’s no doubt she’ll light up the small screen as well. The show is scheduled to come out in 2019 and fans cannot wait. This will be a great step in Dolly’s career and as she says with another caption on Instagram, “If you can’t find the sunshine, make your own instead!”
