Rick Small gained notoriety in 2015 by riding his solar powered bike across Canada. Now he is in the news for another, more mysterious reason. Recently, a wooden solar powered boat washed up on the shores of the small Irish village of Ballyglass.

One resident climbed aboard it, and while he did not find any people, he did discover a note from Small. It read, I, Rick Small, donate this structure to a homeless youth to give them a better life that Newfoundlanders choose not to do!

No rent, no mortgage, no hydro,Reporters have been trying to get in touch with Small to ask him about his reasons for leaving the boat to a homeless youth. But there is one problem. No one can find Small.

Michael Hurst, an officer with the Irish Coast Guard, said he does not believe Small was aboard the boat. He said it is more likely the solar powered boat broke off from its mooring and drifted across the Atlantic before reaching Ireland. Many residents around Small’s Newfoundland home claim to have seen him working on the boat.

One neighbor said he talked to Small, who told him his intent to sail his boat across the Atlantic. Residents also say Small has not been seen much following his cross country bicycle adventure.
