Adoption is a choice that many couples make in order to improve the life of a child who needs a family.

There are very comprehensive and sometimes complicated procedures in place for adoption. The complexities increase when you attempt to adopt a child from another country. This is what one family decided to do. Gene and Lisa Lumpkins already had two children and were a happy family.

They decided to adopt four special needs children from China one day to give them a better life and home.

One of the adopted children was named Aubrey. She was young and had cerebral palsy.

Aubrey was an abused child. Her biological mother was incapable of taking care of her and even tried to kill her at one point. Gene and Lisa were proud to be given the chance to take care of her. A friend of Lisa’s who was a volunteer at an orphanage posted the picture of an Asian girl looking for a home.

Lisa immediately saw that the girl looked very much like Aubrey. It bothered her for some time. She eventually gathered up money and sent in for a test to see if Aubrey was related to the girl.

The tests came back showing that the girl in the photo was actually Aubrey’s sister.

The orphan also suffered from cerebral palsy. Gene and Lisa desperately tried to adopt the girl who the family calls Avery. Unfortunately, the adoption will cost tens of thousands of dollars.

Avery is due to age out of the Chinese adoption system so that she will no longer be allowed to leave the country. The frustrated family actually set up a GoFundMe page looking for donations to adopt the girl before it is too late.
