Rylee Rae was heartbroken after her relationship ended and her ex-boyfriend took their hairless cats with him when he moved out of the couple’s Toronto apartment. A few days later, Rae saw an advertisement for a hairless cat in a community two hours away. She responded to the ad immediately.

Rae said the ad had been up for only 20 minutes when she sent a private message. She told the poster that she would love the cat for the rest of its life, and the poster responded by asking Rae to come and get her. The cat, who would eventually be called Delores, needed a new home because the other cats in her current situation were mean to her. Rae said she felt that seeing the ad and meeting Delores was destiny, and adopting the petite animal has healed her from the breakup.

Since Rae lives in Canada, it can get quite cold in the winter. Rae was worried that Delores would suffer from chills because she does not have a fur coat. Her mother has come to the rescue by promising to knit sweaters and blankets for the kitty to keep her cozy. Rae has set up an Instagram account to chronicle her life with Delores.
