It is no secret that you should never mess with a mother and her babies, especially animals.

However, one snake handler learned his lesson the hard way and it was all caught on camera.

The footage shows a large yellow python coiled over a pile of freshly hatched eggs. The mother snake stays very still as she protects her eggs from predators or curious people.

The handler begins to attempt to move the snake to gather the pile of eggs. Just when he thinks the mother is calm and subdued, he lifts up her body.

The large snake immediately lunges to bite the man, who quickly jumps out of the way. However, he understimates the distance the snake can attack because if its length.

A voice is heard off screen warning him to be careful.

Fortunately, the man is trained on how to properly approach the snake.

He calmly approaches the yellow snake again. This time he is armed with a long pole hook that is used to hold down parts of the snake to prevent it from lunging.

As the footage comes to an end, the keeper is able to successfully subdue the mother snake and gather the freshly hatched eggs for safekeeping.

This story is a reminder to always use proper caution when approaching any type of animal, especially new mothers.
