Technological innovations are not limited to tiny gadgets that everyone carries in their pockets.

They also apply to large-scale tech, likes transportation, manufacturing, construction, and many others.

Boeing recently unveiled and tested before the public a new plane called the 727-9 Dreamliner, and it is one of the most advanced planes in the world, not only for its architecture but for its capabilities. The plane looks, at first glance, like any other airliner, but it quickly proves itself ahead of the curve when it takes off.

The Dreamliner has the ability to take off at nearly a perfect right angle. Most planes, especially commercial travel jets, take off at relatively small angles to avoid jostling the passengers too much, but this plane takes off like a rollercoaster preparing to reach its first free-fall.

While the angle appears to be a complete 90 degrees, Boeing assured the public that isn’t actually the case. It simply appears that way due to the angle of perception from the ground. In either case, the plane does take off at an angle far higher than most standard commercial jets, but Boeing insisted they will continue to take off at normal angles when the plane is added to their official fleet.

The ability to take off at such a steep angle is merely precautionary since it allows planes to take off from shorter distances and to reach higher altitudes much faster. The plane is also significantly more environmentally friendly than older models, and it uses less fuel.
