We learn as we grow up that what is in a person’s heart is much more important than what is on the surface. This may be true, but it’s difficult to convey this information to our children. They get their understanding of “normal” from media, adults, and one another, and this concept might be tough to alter.

Unfortunately, despite the fact that we have numerous campaigns aimed at preventing bullying in schools, their effectiveness is still poor. Children who are not perceived as normal may face a tremendous amount of problems, particularly if they are bullied by their classmates. Aldrin was just one little boy who understood this better than anyone.

Aldrin was born with a birth defect: he had congenital knee dislocations that caused his knees to bend in the wrong direction, or backwards. Because of this odd structure, the youngster was never able to stand upright on his own. It was tough for him to walk and, as a result of this abnormality, his legs were very

Worse than the physical agony was the emotional anguish of being taunted by his classmates. Aldrin’s legs made him “feel like a bird” according to his peers, who constantly mocked him about it. This severely eroded Aldrin’s confidence, and he even began to believe that life had no meaning for him. It’s terrible for any youngster to experience.

This year, the 11-year-old boy showed up at the Tebow CURE Hospital looking for assistance. A representative of the institution rushed to Tim Tebow himself to tell him the story after learning of his son’s condition.

Tim Tebow, the former NFL player, was inspired by Aldrin’s situation. He realized he had to meet him in person because a similar young boy had impacted Tim’s life years ago.

Tim was born in the Philippines, and his parents are American Baptist missionaries. They have worked in the Philippines for more than 30 years, and when Tim was a teenager, his father took him on his first missionary journey to an isolated island.

During this trip, Tim got to know a young Filipino boy named Sherwin. According to Tim, “he wore his feet backward.” He was born that way and had trouble walking since his feet were misoriented.

Tim was moved by Sherwin’s tale, and he wanted to assist others similar to him. While Tim Tebow established the Tim Tebow Foundation, an organization dedicated to “bringing hope, faith, and love to those in need,” the memory of their time together stayed with him.

When Tim learned about Aldrin, he immediately thought of Sherwin and the problems he had faced. There was no question in his mind; he must do something to assist this young child.

Aldrin had been advised against surgery because he was already 11 years old. He would not bounce back as quickly as he might have if the operation were performed earlier, but that option was out of the question. The medical team at the Tebow CURE Hospital came up with a strategy that would alter Aldrin’s life dramatically.

Aldrin’s surgery was four hours long, and after it he was able to stand up straight and walk normally. This was a significant improvement for Aldrin. He would no longer be the victim of continuous bullying. Aldrin had finally been given a chance to lead a bully-free existence.

In line with his goal, one of the objectives was to assist Dr. Aldrin’s mother who had never dreamed her son would ever be able to walk again. “It was fine because their staff supported us and took excellent care of us,” she stated. They encouraged me and gave me strength to believe that God knows what is best for my child

Aldrin has been walking without the use of a walker for some time now, and it won’t be long until he’s able to do so on his own. His life has really altered as a result of someone else’s kindness.

“Thank you Sherwin,” Aldrin said. “One life truly can change another.”
