A woman in Tarpon Springs, Florida, heard an odd crying noise coming from the engine of her SUV while she was driving down the road. She pulled over to investigate under the hood but could not find anything.

She remembered seeing a small kitten near her vehicle when she was about to leave her home but thought it had run off.

The woman decided to take the car to the police department. At the police station, officers opened the hood and began to probe around the engine compartment.

One officer finally reached into a tight crevice and pulled out a black and white kitten, the same one the woman had seen earlier.

She was horrified, thinking how easily it could have died. The officer handed her the kitten, and she decided to adopt it. The rescue operation was recorded by the police department and posted to Facebook.

The woman later told the story on her own Facebook page and included a photo of the kitten, named Fender because he was found inside a wheel well.

She reported that he was currently in her spare bathroom and doing great. The woman also thanked the Tarpon Springs Police Department for its help.
