Although few people may have heard of Murmansk, Russia, it is the home of a deep sea fisherman named Roman Fedortsov.

However, Fedortsov is not just the type of guy who likes to catch some fish and call it a day. In his neck of the woods—or the ocean, as it were—it turns out that there are some truly interesting finds.

From the depths of the ocean, this deep sea fisherman pulls up fish and other creatures that appear as though they’ve emerged from a horror film.

Sporting fangs, rows of crazy teeth and even some more idiosyncrasies, it seems like a safe bet that some of these animals are part of species that have never seen the light of day before meeting Roman Fedortsov’s hook.

Featuring everything from spindly creatures to those that resemble sea serpents or ancient crocodiles, Fedortsov’s Twitter feed is loaded with images that have to be seen in order to be believed.

Indeed, it is a wonderful reminder that there is still so much of the ocean that is unexplored and unknown.
In a world where a lot of information is at our fingertips, it is also a poignant reminder that we need to put more resources into deep sea biology.

Those who are squeamish, though, may have somewhat of a shock when they check out these pictures. In Fedortsov’s world, a fish with glowing green eyes is apparently not a big deal.

Neither is a tiny creature that looks like a blue octopus.
