Ah, the good old days. It might be hard for some young people today to believe it, but there was a time when people actually listened to the radio, worked jobs like bagging groceries at the local store, and watched entertaining television programs in the evenings with their families.

Today, radio has been subjugated by podcasts and satellite radio channels, and television is filled with whatever will generate the biggest audience.

It sure seems like people were happier during the glorious 50’s and 60’s era of music as compared to today. One of the best groups of the era were the one-hit wonder Ronettes.

Featuring the lovely voice of Ronnie Spector, the group charted a smash with “Be My Baby” in 1963. They also made appearances on television variety shows like the Big TNT Show to sing it live before a studio audience. Watching these clips today is nostalgic for many people who can recall where they were and what they were doing when this hit was big on the radio.

Recently, the video clip was shared on Facebook. It immediately received numerous positive comments. One Facebook user stated, “Rare that they aren’t lip-syncing. Ronnie can really showcase her pipes!” It’s true. Ronnie Spector was known for giving enthusiastic, powerful performances that really showcased her vocal talent.

Sadly, the Ronettes never recaptured the magic of their first hit and broke up just a year after it was released.
