Model Dani Mathers received a warning from the court, and in that moment, she decided that she was going to take her community service seriously and do what she had to do to stay out of jail. Ms. Mathers was sentenced to community service for body-shaming a patron at a local gym. She secretly took the picture of the other woman, but needless to say, the other lady didn’t know anything about it. She also would not have known what was going to happen with that photograph until after it had been done. If she had known before it occurred, she never would have allowed it to happen.

On the day that the matter was to be decided, attorneys for Ms. Mathers appeared in court and demonstrated that she had completed 240 hours of community service as she was ordered to do. The community service required of Ms. Mathers was to help clean up the graffiti that is so prevalent around the city of Los Angeles.

In 2018, Ms. Mathers was accused of taking a photograph of a 71-year-old woman at the gym that she frequented. She uploaded this picture without the woman’s permission and wrote a nasty caption to go along with it. She was arrested and taken to trial, but the judge offered her a choice. She could either spend 45 days in jail or she could spend 30 days removing graffiti from Los Angeles’ walls. She chose to perform the graffiti removal.

In November, Ms. Mathers had only completed 56 hours of her community service, and the judge appeared to be impatient with her. He informed her that she was risking being sent to jail if she didn’t complete her community service as ordered, so he advised her to start taking her sentence more seriously.

The incident occurred at an LA Fitness in which Ms. Mathers snapped a photo of the woman in the locker room. The caption that she posted along with the photograph said, “If I can’t unsee this then you can’t either.”

Dani stated at the time that the choice she made to take the picture and post it to the internet was the wrong one. She said it was a “stupid choice,” and she regrets it to this day. She has apologized to the woman in the photo, but she says that she isn’t sorry about what happened to her. Because of this incident, Dani Mathers now is on a mission to create more positivity in the world. She also wants to encourage people not to act before they think. This incident changed her life, but she thinks that it was a blessing in disguise.

Ms. Mathers will be on probation until the year 2020. Until that time is over, she is not allowed to post anybody’s pictures if she doesn’t have their permission to do so. In the meantime, she is going to make sure that she never does anything like that again because she is truly sorry for her actions.
