Most people think of art as something hanging in a museum, but there is a much wider spectrum of artistic examples out in the world. You might not consider something as common as drywall as an artistic medium, but one man took the challenge at heart and has started creating beautiful landscapes directly onto walls. The drywall expert, a man named Bernie Mitchell, was bored with conventional drywall, so he decided to transform standard drywall in amazing 3D art.

Bernie lives in works in Ontario, Canada, and everything he creates is entirely from hand and custom made. He uses drywall compound with a putty blade in order to create stunning works of art directly on the side of a new wall. He started with his strange technique in the early 1990s, and his initial artistic endeavors were mere abstractions meant to help play with lighting and shadows in boring spaces. His studies have proven more than adequate, and he can now sculpt amazing scenes including wildlife, landscapes, and many other subjects.

One of Bernie’s favorite artistic creations is the wolf. He has mastered creating raised surfaces with the joint compound for the drywall, and he uses his blade with more precision than most artists use their brushes. Watching him work is mesmerizing, and he works so quickly that it is clear he has practiced the craft for quite some time. His skills are highly sought amongst those who enjoy a flare of creativity in their living space and who enjoy the great outdoors.
