car to some is something more than just a mode of transportation. It’s a vehicle that you could count on through good times and bad. It may have also transported those you love to work and special events and where cherished memories were created. In 1964, Herb Younger of Redondo Beach, California bought a 1965 Chevy Impala SS. His two sons have fond memories of riding in the backseat of the Impala. As a first owner, Jared and Derek recall the time their father spent on the vehicle, and the joy the car brought to the man.

The Younger family experienced difficult times during the late 80’s, and Herb had to part with the car that he loved so dearly. This act of generosity on the part of Younger was necessary to help his family through some serious hardships, and it was never forgotten by his children. The brothers thought about tracking down the car and hopefully purchasing it back for their father. During this five-year journey, Dereck and Jared always seemed to be a couple steps behind. They followed the car through its many owners from Arizona and Pennsylvania to New York and Maine. This is where they learned that the vehicle had just been sold and making its way to Canada.

The brothers were discouraged and on the verge of enlisting a private investigator to assist in the search for the Impala. With one last ditch effort made, the boys discovered the vehicle for sale and purchased it instantly. The father’s reunion with his beloved car was captured on video. Here you can see the emotion and joy on Herb Younger’s face as he was moved to tears by the generosity of his sons. Climbing into the driver’s seat of the vehicle, it was an overwhelming 20-year reunion. Herb said, “I can’t believe it’s actually here. I go to the garage every day and touch it.”
