When you get pulled over by the police, you hope the encounter won’t end up on the nightly news, yet that is exactly what happened when LaVonte Dell got pulled over in Detroit.

At first, Dell thought he was being pulled over for his tinted windows, but he was about to get the surprise of his life. Fortunately, his encounter with police goes to show that not every police officer is racist, and not all of them are violent, trigger-happy individuals.

Officer Joshua Scaglione was the officer who had pulled over Dell, and as he approached the vehicle from his squad car, he noticed a small child in the back seat.

The girl had to be only a few years old, yet she wasn’t sitting in a car seat, and there didn’t appear to be one in the vehicle. Scaglione asked the father why his daughter wasn’t in a carseat, and he reiterated how dangerous it is to allow a small child to ride in a vehicle without a proper seat.

Instead of reacting negatively to the police office, Dell simply broke down in tears. He confessed to the officer that he was having a hard time with money at the moment, and that he couldn’t afford a carseat for his daughter, even though he was working hard to provide for her.

Scaglione made the choice immediately to help the man, and he took the father to a nearby Walmart, where he purchased a brand new carseat for the little girl.
