For millions of people, watching television is a favorite pastime especially for relaxation. A chosen movie of television show is on, and is interrupted by a stream of commercials, some of which are annoying, and seemingly inappropriate at the time. Television viewers often think that these are a waste of time.

Although some of them are informative and interesting, there are many that were viewed, then pulled from television for various reasons. The decision to take them off the air was not met with dismay from viewers. Television commercials are generally trying to sell or promote a product. Sometimes this is not done in the most discerning way.

They may even have been offensive to many viewers, or they could have been so hilarious that the intended product did not make the desired impact on consumers. Many of the commercials were exploiting certain things to sell a product that was not relevant to what was being shown.

The commercial for Post Bank was a confirmation for deception when a man answered another person’s phone, and gave permission for the woman on the other end to spend excessive amounts of money. This bank could have been liable to the real account holder for unapproved purchases.

An Ikea commercial had a little kid having fun making a mess on the floor and walking away not cleaning up after himself. This was not a positive message to send to the children who enjoy seeing kids like themselves on television.

One of the pulled commercials that definitely relayed a message other than what was intended was Tex Mex who instead of trying to promote the bacon on their burgers was focusing on “other things”

This could have been considered a distasteful way to sell food. The men in the background were excited about the ladies they saw in the commercial, and not bacon.

One commercial that was not clearly understood was one of the commercials.

It started with a man and woman out together when they were confronted by a vicious, barking dog. They tried to scare the dog off, but failed. The woman totally dismantled herself and frightened the dog. The dog ran away, but the man was in awe to see the woman he was with transform into a man. Did not get the promoted product out of that one. It is no wonder that it was pulled. Although society today has an open mind, it is very uncomfortable to watch the commercial that was pulled.

Two young people went into the store to buy some items, and were invited by the clerk to try one on for size.

They casually portrayed the act, and talking to the salesclerk about the feel of the event. To have this commercial pop up on the television screen could be disturbing to parents, and other adults, but it could be amusing to children and teens. Although the message is implied, the scene is too much for some viewers.

The public may not have had the opportunity to see many of these commercials, but most of them did not do a great job of focusing on the intended product.
