Most football players assume their most notable actions will play out on the football field, but that wasn’t true for Daniel Bronson, a 21-year-old from Lockport, New York.

He is a junior at University of Rochester, and he recently was presented with an opportunity to be a good samaritan, and he took the opportunity will full force.

He was leaving a restaurant recently and saw a man run up to an elderly woman before snatching her purse away. The woman was with her elderly husband, but neither could do anything to prevent the robbery.

Bronson, who knew he had the ability to catch the thief, started after the man at full speed. The thief, upon realizing someone was chasing him, dropped the purse and continued fleeing.

Instead of letting the man go and instantly retrieving the purse, Bronson decided to follow through with his pursuit. He tackled the would-be thief and held the man down to the ground until police arrived.

The thief was arrested and charged with robbery.

It should come as no surprise that this young man was able to subdue the attacker. The junior had nearly 400 offensive yards in a game that very evening, and he scored a 60-yard touchdown run.

He rushed for 192 yards in that game, which was the record-setting stat for Division III quarterbacks.

His physical prowess made him the perfect candidate to chase down and catch a purse thief, and he happened to be at the right place at the right time to offer his assistance.
