Every parent wants the best for their newborn child, but it is almost impossible to tell how a child will turn out at birth.

Though education and life experiences make a huge difference to a child’s overall success in life, it turns out that some babies are born with a feature that can help them to succeed in life.

Even though a big head might be a bit of a nuisance, a new research study found that it can turn out to be somewhat helpful. A study by UK Biobank examined the head size of roughly 100,000 people in the United Kingdom.

They measured the size of head circumference at birth and then tested subjects over the course of several years. It was determined that babies born with a large head had a higher brain volume and a higher level of intelligence.

The findings were so consistent that the scientists could even look at a newborn’s head size and determine whether or not the child would be intelligent enough to get into a university.

The researchers theorized that a larger head allowed a larger brain to develop, and there were also some linked genes that resulted in better mental health and a larger head.

The average circumference of a newborn is 36 centimeters for boys or 35 centimeters for girls, so if your new baby has a larger than average head, it might be a sign of larger than average intelligence.

They might have trouble finding hats that fit, but your big-headed baby is also most likely smarter than other kids.
