A grocery store clerk in Indianapolis is gaining fame after a random act of kindness was recorded and released on Facebook.

Fox 59 reported that Janell, the cashier, took money out of her own pocket to help an elderly woman who was short on cash and needed groceries. Gary Clark was a witness to the event. He was behind the older woman in line in a Marsh store when the cashier helped the senior citizen out. He was quick to share his version of what happened that day.

“This woman is a store clerk and cashier at the Marsh store on Kentucky Avenue. An older woman came down her line and she realized that she didn’t have enough money to pay for her groceries. This clerk took cash out of her own wallet and paid for half of her bill without a single complaint,” shared Gary.

“I just want everyone to share this and let everybody know that our youth isn’t a lost cause. I was proud to have seen it, and Marsh should be proud to have such a great employee.

The video shows that at first, the older woman wouldn’t accept the help, but finally relented when Janell continued to insist. She told the women that she came through her line all the time and that she just wanted to help her out this time. “I had a good week,” Janell said to the customer.

“You should too.” Here is a video of the Facebook post of her wonderful deed.
