However, the city of Kingsport is now paying tribute to these police officers. On Tuesday, October 18, 2016, they painted the streets blue in order to honor the police officers. The officers did not know that they were going to be honored.

They were touched by the city’s gesture. Tom Patton is the spokesperson for the Kingsport Police Department. He stated that there is a lot of turmoil and divide going on in many other areas of the country.

However, he does not see that going on in Kingsport. He stated that he is proud to have the support from the government and citizens in Kingsport. Jeff Fleming is the city manager. He stated that the blue paint that was used on the streets was permanent.

He also stated that the city is planning to keep the blue lines on the street for years to come. The blue line was painted between the yellow lines on Clay and Shelby streets.
