Peter Kaisen went to a VA hospital in New York to try to get medical help. He was a veteran of the United States Navy, and he deserved the care that the hospital provided. However, the hospital refused to provide the care that he needed.

Because Peter was in excruciating pain and couldn’t get the help that he needed, he shot himself in the hospital parking lot. When the hospital told him that there was no help, Peter went to his car and pulled the trigger to a gun that he had with him.

What makes this situation even worse is that Peter was a patient of the hospital and had paid his bills on time. However, the hospital is denying that Peter arrived at the hospital to ask for assistance.

A friend of Peter’s knew that he had depression and that he would go to the hospital to get medications and other treatments for his depression. Peter was upset about the VA not letting him see an emergency room doctor, so he took matters into his own hands.

Family and friends hope that the message is clear that the VA needs to help veterans who have fought for the country.

An investigation in Oklahoma has uncovered that there are over 1,000 veterans who have died while they have been waiting to get treatment from VA hospitals.
